Sakay Sy Voantsiperifery Ka Samy Mitondra Ny Ngidiny Ho Azy
This Malagasy proverb means that each individual goes through their own trials and tribulations. Like chili and Madagascar pepper, each has its own degree of bitterness and spiciness and carries its own burdens. In other words, one should not underestimate others’ difficulties because even if they are not visible or expressed in the same way, they are very real. An equivalent proverb in English would be: ‘Every man for himself.’
