Raha Ny Tianao No Hatao, Hetsika Andriananahary ; Fa Raha Ho An'olona, Tangena Ambonin'ny Varavarana.
This proverb highlights the hypocrisy of some people who do not hesitate to seek divine intervention to fulfill their personal desires but become hostile or indifferent when it comes to helping others. In other words, when it comes to their own interests, they do their utmost, even invoking God. But for others, they show no scruple and may even harm them. The equivalent English proverb might be ‘Charity begins at home.’
