Aza Manao Arahaba Mamba : Tsy Fitia Fa Tahotra.

This proverb advises against forming relationships based on fear instead of genuine friendship or affection. By comparing the act of greeting a crocodile, an animal feared for its strength and danger, it reminds us that respect or greetings given out of fear are not genuine. To maintain healthy relationships, gestures of respect and friendship must be sincere. The equivalent in English could be ‘Better alone than in bad company’.
