Aleo Meloka Amin'ny Olombelona Toy Izay Meloka Amin'andriamanitra.
This proverb implies that the consequences of offending God are more severe than those of offending fellow humans. In traditional Malagasy belief, God (Andriamanitra) is the ultimate judge of justice and morality. While humans may easily forgive or forget, transgressions against God have eternal repercussions. An equivalent English proverb would be: ‘Better to be at peace with God than with men’.
